Tip
FREE
REMOTE ACCESS
Wouldn't it be great to be able to access your home
or business computer when you are away on a visit or
business trip, so you could check your e-mail or use
other familiar programs? To gain control of your
home or office computer whenever you are away
consider, using the free (at least for now) service,
LogMeIn.com. After setting up an free
account, you can remotely control your computer from
afar, and accomplish the same things that you used
to do while sitting in front of your computer.
And, if you want me to be able to remotely assist
you when you are having a computer "issue", just
call me at the time and let me know what your
LogMeIn e-mail name and password is so I can connect
to your computer and help you out! As long as your
computer can still boot AND connect to the Internet,
I will do whatever I can to assist you remotely; a
service which I'm still offering for free for a
limited time.

MOUSE TRAP - mouse
bullseye
Sometimes it's difficult to find the mouse pointer
arrow on certain desktop backgrounds, especially if
you have vision problems. You can make it easier to
keep up with the pesky pointer by following these
steps:
Click Start, then Control Panel. In the Classic
View, click the "Mouse" icon. (In the
Category View, click "Printers and
Other Hardware", then click "Mouse")
Click the Pointer Options tab.
Check the box that says "Show location of pointer when I press
the CTRL key."
Click OK.
Now when you tap the
Control key, an animated circle will target the
location of your pointer arrow!
INTERNET EXPLORER and
FIREFOX ADDRESS SHORTCUT
Heres a helpful tip for quicker browsing. When
using Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox,
type in the main name of a site you want to browse,
then press [CTRL]+[ENTER] to
automatically insert http://www. before your
text and .com after your text.
For example, type yahoo, then press
[CTRL]+[ENTER] to get http://www.yahoo.com
which will then actually browse to that site!
WHAT ARE TINYURL.COM LINKS?
It's nothing to be alarmed about. TinyURL.com
offers a free service that converts a lengthy web page
address into a small manageable one that will fit more
easily into an e-mail or newsletter. A URL, or Uniform
Resource Locator, is a naming scheme devised in the
early days of the Internet. Anyone can use this
service for free; here's how:
Use your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, AOL, etc.) to surf to
the
web page that you want to share.
Copy the full address of that web page by selecting it entirely,
then
press [CTRL] + [C] to copy it.
Open a second tab or window in your browser and head to
www.tinyurl.com.
Paste your long address into the tiny window by clicking once
inside it, then
press [CTRL] + [V] to paste it.
Now click the "Make TinyURL!" button. The screen will change and
your
newly-created TinyURL address will show.
To use this in an e-mail or another document, just
copy the TinyURL address and paste it into your
e-mail.
